2019-20 Season Announced

To begin our year-long residency at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Baltimore, we dig into Monteverdi’s rich Sixth Book of Madrigals. His cycle La Sestina and Benjamin Britten’s much-loved Hymn to St. Cecilia bookend an exploration of madrigals and part-songs old and new with works by Martinů, Rorem, Ligeti and the U.S. premiere of Tawnie Olson’s Child’s Play.

Third Practice makes its debut on the 10th annual Livewire festival for new music at UMBC with Salvatore Sciarrino’s rarely performed 12 Madrigali. 17th-century haiku by the poet Basho are turned inside out and upside down in the “unreliable mirror” of Sciarrino’s otherworldly music.
